HOSA Honors Breast Cancer Survivors at Pink Out Game

HOSA recognized Breast Cancer Survivors in the community during halftime during the Pink Out Game on Friday, October 18, 2019.  Members sold breast cancer links for $1 and accepted donations with all proceeds donated to Prisma Breast Health Center.  HOSA members gifted these survivors with a pink carnation and a gift bag that included a breast cancer survivor button, bracelet, pens, notepads, and toiletry items.  HOSA joined forces with the football team and together they were able to raise $300.00 to donate to Prisma Breast Health Center.

During the game, statistics were announced after each quarter and guest in the stands were asked if there were any other Breast Cancer Survivors in the crowd, and any additional survivors were provided with a carnation and gift bag as well for both home and away teams. “My favorite part of the pink out game was seeing the community come together to help support these women that we recognized and for other people who have had or have breast cancer before. Planning it was fun too,” said Abby Smith.

Dr. Sandra Pound stated, "What a great Tiger Victory!"  She gave her thanks for us recognizing the breast cancer survivors during the pink out game and giving them a chance to encourage others who may be experiencing the effects of this dreaded disease. Another message she wanted to share with students is “Remember to never give up."
