College Decision Day

College & Career Decision Day is a high school event that aims to celebrate the college and career decisions of graduating high school seniors and all of their accomplishments. We strive to recognize all students' post-secondary plans-whether they are to pursue higher education, enlist in the military, complete a vocational or trade program, or immediately seek employment.

Faculty, staff, and students were encouraged to wear their college/university, military, or career paraphernalia! Decision Day lets the student body and staff know what the students plan to do after high school. High school seniors participated in a college day event with representatives in attendance from various colleges. They had the opportunity to sign their class banner, mix and mingle, and take photos. Some students had the opportunity to apply to schools still enrolling.  This event also served as a reminder to students that graduation is right around the corner. The goal of this day is to celebrate all students and their decisions and to show them that any pathway they choose they can go anywhere from here.

Sara Lackey will attend Anderson University this Fall. “I chose Anderson as it best fits my personality and will aid in my growth & development as a collegiate student. I cannot wait to start this next chapter of my life.”

Tyree Scutchings has enlisted in the US Army and added, “The Army will afford me the opportunity to travel, serve my country, meet new people, and become a better me.”

Ashlyn Morris will attend Kenneth Shuler Cosmetology School, “I love helping people, and providing beautician services will afford me the opportunity to meet and serve people of all backgrounds.”

The SHS Guidance Department would like to host more events in the future as providing students with many resources as possible is of most importance. Congratulations to the class of 2021, soar high, and continue to make SHS proud. #RiseUp
