Happy National Custodian Day! 💜 Every day, our custodial team at Sandhills Middle School has the building clean, safe, and ready before the first student walks in. From setting up for events to keeping every hallway spotless, their work supports everything we do! Thank you for everything you do for our students and staff.

Congratulations to the Swansea Tiger Band on their performances at their first two competitions!

They will perform tomorrow at the White Knoll High School Silver Invitational. Their performance time is 1:30pm. If the weather is not cooperative, the performances will be held in the gym at White Knoll HS.

Swansea Tigers Girls Soccer Open Season begins Tuesday, October 6th and continues every Tuesday in October.

🗓️ When: Every Tuesday in October, starting Oct. 6th
⏰ Time: 4:15 - 6:00 PM
📍 Location: Swansea High Freshmen Academy

What to bring:

Running shoes, shin guards, and cleats (mandatory)
All required forms, completed and turned in

🚗 Please note: Transportation is not provided. Players will need their own way to and from practice.

📣 PSAT/NMSQT Testing at Sandhills Middle School! 🐯💜💛

Attention 8th Grade Parents and Students! Registration is now open for the PSAT/NMSQT. This optional assessment is a great opportunity for students to become familiar with the SAT format, identify academic strengths and areas for growth, and potentially qualify for the SC Junior Scholars Program.

Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15–October 15) is a time to recognize and celebrate the many contributions, diverse cultures, and rich histories of Hispanic and Latino Americans. By honoring achievements in fields like science, public service, the arts, and advocacy, this month helps us better understand how deeply Hispanic heritage is woven into our nation's identity. Beyond honoring these legacies, it's a chance to build cultural appreciation, strengthen community bonds, and inspire future generations to take pride in their roots.

As part of our Hispanic Heritage Month recognition, our ML (Multilingual Learner) students have been learning about the importance of pronouncing names correctly. They had the opportunity to teach our school community how to spell and say their names the right way — because names carry a piece of our identity, our culture, and the legacy of our families.

Did You Know? Missing just 2 days a month of school — roughly 18 days a year — is enough to put a student at risk of falling behind academically. That level of absence is considered chronic and can significantly hurt a student’s performance. In recognition of Attendance Awareness Month, Lexington 4 will be celebrating with a Spirit Week from September 8–11, 2026. We want to highlight the importance of regular student attendance and encourage students to make every day count! Together, we can keep our Tigers in school and on track for success — today and tomorrow! 🐯

🦉 What’s an owl’s diet look like? Our 7th graders found out. 🦉 This week in Science, students dissected owl pellets — the compact bundles of bones and fur owls cough back up after a meal — to identify exactly what their local owls have been eating. This activity ties directly into our ecosystems unit, giving students a real, hands-on look at food webs and predator-prey relationships!
