Lexington School District Four Federal Programs

Lexington Four manages federal programs to comply with the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, Title I, Title II, and Title III.  District data and stakeholder input guide initiatives that meet specific requirements of the law, as well as focus resources on district needs and goals.

Specific state supplemental program resources are managed in collaboration to maximize efforts for at-risk students, reading and literacy initiatives, enhancement activities, and professional development. 

Title I

The purposes of Title I are to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments. 

Title I Schools:

  • Early Childhood Center

  • Sandhills Primary School

Title II

The purposes of Title II are to increase student academic achievement through strategies such as improving teacher and principal quality and increasing the number of highly qualified teachers in the classroom and highly qualified principals and assistant principals in schools. 

Title III

The purposes of Title III are to help ensure that children who are limited English proficient, including immigrant children and youth, attain English proficiency, develop high levels of academic attainment in English, and meet the same challenging state academic content and student academic achievement standards as all children are expected to meet.

Title IV

The purposes of Title IV are to improve students’ academic achievement with access to a well-rounded education; improve school conditions for student learning; and improve the use of technology to improve academic achievement of all students.
